Troops Rescue Abducted Soldier, Civilian In Fresh Zamfara Offensive
Sustained military pressure on armed groups in Nigeria’s North West is continuing to yield results, with troops rescuing an abducted soldier and a civilian during a fighting patrol in Zamfara State.
Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, carried out the rescue on Wednesday during an operation at a terrorist enclave in Gwashi.
The military said the operation led to the rescue of Lance Corporal Basiru Labbo, who was kidnapped on 22 July along the Zuru-Anka road, and Lauwali Dan Ada, a resident of Kasahola Village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to the task force, both victims were evacuated to a military location where they underwent medical evaluation, debriefing and other administrative procedures.
The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations and rescue missions aimed at protecting lives and restoring security across the North West.
