APC Shifts House Of Representatives Primaries, Retains Other Election Dates
As political parties intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress has adjusted part of its primary election timetable, signalling ongoing strategic realignments within the ruling party.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, the APC announced the postponement of its House of Representatives Primary Election from the earlier scheduled date to Saturday, 16 May, 2026.
The party, however, maintained that dates earlier fixed for the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, Governorship and Presidential primaries remain unchanged.
According to the revised timetable released by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the Senate primaries will hold on Monday, 18 May, while the State House of Assembly primaries are slated for Wednesday, 20 May.
The Governorship primaries are expected to take place on Thursday, 21 May, with the Presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, 23 May, 2026.
The APC did not provide reasons for the postponement of the House of Representatives primaries.
