Easter Legacy: Anambra Unveils ICT Hub As Citizens Rally Behind Soludo’s Tech Vision
In a time when digital skills increasingly define economic relevance, Anambra State is doubling down on its ambition to become Nigeria’s technology powerhouse.
Awka, the state capital, witnessed a surge of excitement on Easter Monday as the Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, unveiled the Anthony ICT Innovation Centre, an initiative honouring late tech enthusiast, Mr Anthony Okechukwu, whose passion for digital advancement continues to inspire a new generation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Ibezim underscored the value of purposeful living, noting that legacy is measured not by years lived but by impact made.
He described the centre as a symbol of a life well spent and a vision that transcends death.
The Deputy Governor also pointed to ongoing transformations across the state under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, highlighting major infrastructural strides, including the development of 57 structures within the Government House.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to positioning Anambra as a leading hub for innovation and technology.
Director of the centre, Mrs Chioma Okechukwu Uba, said the facility is both a tribute and a forward-looking investment in youth empowerment.
She explained that the hub is designed to provide a collaborative space where young people can quickly acquire digital skills, innovate, and connect to opportunities that shape their future.
Echoing this vision, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation, Miss Chinwe Okoli, revealed that over 3,000 youths are already engaged in various digital initiatives across the state.
She added that the new facility marks the 20th digital hub established under the current administration, signalling a deliberate push towards a sustainable, tech-driven economy.
The event drew key stakeholders, including Senator Ben Ndi-Obi and Prof A.U. Nnonyelu, alongside a large turnout of youths and tech enthusiasts, all expressing optimism that the centre will unlock new pathways for digital empowerment and economic growth.
