In times of community transition, moments of disagreement often present opportunities to reinforce unity, transparency, and collective progress.

Key stakeholders in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area, Anambra State, have reaffirmed their commitment to accountability and peaceful coexistence following recent public discussions surrounding community leadership and administration.

Representatives of the Awkuzu leadership structure, including the Mayor of Oyi LGA, the APU Caretaker Committee, the Awkuzu Traditional Council led by Professor Charles Anikweze, Nnamenyi III, and the Agunechemba Udogachi Awkuzu Unit, emphasised that the ongoing engagements with relevant authorities are aimed at strengthening institutional processes and ensuring proper management of community resources.

A statement signed by the media consultant to the community, Ozor Wendell Odutche, highlighted that the establishment of the Agunechemba Udogachi security outfit in February 2025 has significantly enhanced local safety, particularly in addressing security concerns around farmlands.

According to community sources, the initiative has continued to enjoy support from both government and private contributions, ensuring sustained operations and stability.

The stakeholders further noted that recent administrative reviews and consultations with the Anambra State Government are part of broader efforts to promote transparency and reinforce trust in community leadership structures.

Commending the leadership of the Mayor of Oyi LGA, Hon. Dr Emma Ikechukwu Nweke, the groups described his administration as proactive and development-driven, urging residents to continue supporting policies that foster growth and cohesion.

They also acknowledged the role of various community institutions and associations, including the Awkuzu Development unions and the Adinma Awkuzu Association, in advancing social and infrastructural development, while maintaining neutrality in political and administrative matters.

On traditional leadership, tribute was paid to past and present custodians of Awkuzu’s heritage, noting their contributions to peace, identity, and progress within the community.

Reiterating the importance of unity, the stakeholders called on residents to remain focused on shared goals, stressing that collaboration and mutual respect remain essential for sustainable development in Awkuzu.

They concluded that ongoing reforms and dialogue within the community reflect a renewed commitment to accountability, stability, and a prosperous future for all.
