PSC Extends Constable Recruitment Deadline Despite Over 400,000 Applications
With Nigeria’s rising youth unemployment and growing interest in public service, the race to join the Nigeria Police Force has intensified, with more than 400,000 applications already recorded for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 Constables.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have announced a two-week extension of the application deadline, shifting the closing date from January to 8th February, 2026.
The recruitment portal originally opened on 15th December, 2025.
According to the PSC, the extension became necessary after a review revealed wide disparities in applications across states. While Adamawa, Benue and Kaduna recorded high numbers, states such as Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Anambra showed significantly lower participation.
The Commission said the move is aimed at promoting equitable national representation and has urged eligible Nigerians, especially from underrepresented states, to take advantage of the extension by applying through the official portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.
The PSC also called on state governments, local councils, community leaders, religious bodies and other stakeholders to mobilise and sensitise qualified youths within their areas to apply before the new deadline.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the Commission assured applicants of a fair and credible recruitment process.
