Nigeria, Netherlands Step Up Strategic Partnership On Security, Energy and Youth Empowerment
Nigeria and the Kingdom of the Netherlands have moved to strengthen their long-standing bilateral ties, with renewed focus on security, sustainable development and inclusive economic growth.
The commitment was reaffirmed in Abuja when the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, received the Netherlands’ Sahel Envoy, Mr Robert Zimmerman, and his delegation for a high-level strategic dialogue.
Discussions centred on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, energy transition, agriculture, water management, youth empowerment, migration governance and maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea, alongside counter-terrorism and multilateral engagement.
Both sides also emphasised the need to address the root causes of insecurity while fostering people-to-people ties, cultural diplomacy, and private-sector collaboration.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to sustain dialogue and deepen cooperation in support of regional stability, economic diversification and a rules-based international order.
