In a significant political shift ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dr Augustine Isikwei Ojogbo, former Labour Party chairmanship flagbearer in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Ojogbo’s defection follows a resolution reached at an expanded stakeholders’ meeting of Delta State Obidients held in Warri, where members were urged to adopt the ADC as a more credible and progressive platform for national renewal.

The former Labour Party chieftain officially completed his registration into the ADC on Saturday at his country home, where he received his membership card from the Ward 8 Chairman in Aniocha North, Mr Barry Ofili.

Speaking after the exercise, Ojogbo, who resigned from the Labour Party in early July 2025, described the ADC as a people-focused party that aligns with his long-standing commitment to grassroots development, accountability and compassionate leadership.

He reaffirmed his belief in the Obidients’ vision of a better Nigeria and expressed confidence in the possibility of national rebirth under the leadership of Mr Peter Obi in 2027.

Ojogbo also hinted at his growing interest in contesting for the Aniocha North Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly, citing the urgent need for strong and effective representation for the area.

His supporters and political associates present pledged total support for his future aspirations, describing him as a credible grassroots mobiliser with the capacity to deliver people-centred governance.
