NUJ FCT Council Mourns Six Journalists Killed In Gombe Road Crash
Tragedy has once again cast a long shadow over Nigeria’s journalism community, reminding practitioners of the risks that often accompany the call to serve the public with truth.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the untimely death of six journalists from the Gombe State Council, who lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident while on duty.
In a heartfelt condolence message addressed to the NUJ Gombe State Council, the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, described the fallen journalists as gallant professionals and shining beacons of truth, courage, and commitment to the noble journalism profession.
She extended sincere condolences to the bereaved families, the Gombe State Council, and the entire NUJ family nationwide, noting that the loss has created an irreplaceable void within the Union.
According to her, although their departure is deeply painful, the legacy of fearless reporting, dedication, and service to humanity left behind by the deceased journalists will continue to inspire colleagues across the country.
Comrade Ike assured the Gombe Council of the FCT Council’s solidarity during this period of grief, while praying for God’s comfort, strength, and eternal rest for the departed souls.
