Ogbaru Market Leader Spreads Christmas Joy To 500+ Families

In a season defined by giving, one market community turned compassion into celebration.

Christmas came early for over 500 families at Ogbaru Main Market in Anambra State as the market leadership rolled out a large-scale festive outreach that sparked joy and jubilation across the community.

The event, led by the President-General of the market, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu, popularly known as Ezeudo, saw traders and indigent families receive cash gifts worth millions of naira, bags of rice, food items, wrappers and other essentials.

Beneficiaries danced and celebrated as they left the market with items to brighten their Christmas.

Chief Ochiogu attributed the success of the outreach to the support of his executive and traders, noting that his passion for giving is rooted in personal experience.

“I grew up in poverty, where neighbours shared cups of rice with us at Christmas. Today, God has blessed me, and I believe it is my duty to give back to the less privileged,” he said.

Renowned for his compassion, Ochiogu is also credited as the first market leader in Anambra State to formally celebrate traders aged 90 and above, a gesture he has sustained as an annual tradition alongside continuous support for vulnerable persons.

Beneficiaries included elderly traders, indigent families within and outside the market, and underprivileged children from neighbouring Imo State.

The lawmaker representing Ogbaru 1 Constituency, Hon. Noble Igwe, who attended the event, praised the market leadership for its inclusive and people-centred approach.

He further demonstrated support by donating ₦100 million to assist elderly traders aged 90 and above, urging sustained commitment to social welfare.

Igwe also encouraged residents to celebrate Christmas with love and moderation, reminding them to prepare for post-festive financial responsibilities.
