Non-Indigenes In Anambra Unveil ₦500m Secretariat Plan At Year-End Celebration

The usually calm town of Amawbia burst into colour and excitement as non-indigenes living in Anambra State gathered for a lively end-of-year celebration, an event that also marked the launch of an ambitious ₦500 million project to build a three-storey secretariat for their growing community.

Hosted under the umbrella of the Association of Non-Indigenes Welfare, Anambra State (ANISA/ANIAS), the gathering drew influential figures from across and beyond the state, reflecting the association’s rising profile.

President-General, Chief Ambassador Great Ikechukwu Ugwuoke (JP), said the day signified yet another milestone in a journey rooted in unity, progress, and peaceful coexistence.

He outlined the group’s core pillars, welfare, advocacy, unity, and empowerment, stressing that ANISA/ANIAS had evolved into a strong voice for non-indigenes in the state.

Awka South Mayor, Hon. Chinedu Okafor, applauded Ugwuoke’s leadership and endorsed the plan to build a permanent secretariat.

Representatives of the Special Guest of Honour, Chief Dr. Ebuka Onukwo of Seahorse Lubricants, and the Governor’s aide on political matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, also praised the association’s impact, acknowledging the vital role non-indigenes play in Anambra’s development and political stability.

The celebration featured a spirited fundraising drive for the proposed ultra-modern complex, induction of new cabinet members, award presentations, and rich cultural performances that showcased the diversity within the group.
