APC Sets Stage For Osun Governorship Battle, Inaugurates Screening Committees In Abuja
A quiet tension settled over the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, the kind that signals the start of a political contest with everything at stake.
With the Osun governorship primary just days away, the ruling party has officially activated the machinery that will decide who carries its flag.
On behalf of APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, inaugurated the Screening and Appeal Committees, marking the first decisive step toward the December 13 primary.
The curiosity now sweeping party circles is simple: Who will survive the screening, and who will be knocked out before the race even begins?
The Screening Committee, chaired by Barr. Obinna Uzoh, Ph.D, features a strong blend of lawmakers and political heavyweights including Hon. Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe, Hon. Ifeoluwa Arowosoge, Chief Meg Duru, Princess Farida Odangi, and Hon. Ahmed Sani. Ambassador Usman Baraye will serve as Secretary.
For aspirants, this is the room where ambitions will either be validated or quietly extinguished.
Standing ready to hear petitions, the Screening Appeal Committee, led by Senator Tolu Odeniyi with Attorney Smart Iheazor as Secretary, adds another layer of scrutiny, making it clear that the party intends to run a tight, transparent process.
As the political temperature rises in Osun, all eyes are on Abuja, where the first real decisions will be made.
With internal stakes high and public expectations even higher, the APC’s screening process is now the first major test of unity ahead of a fiercely contested election season.
