FRSC Corps Marshal Wins 2025 Road Safety Champion Award As Push For Stronger National Collaboration Intensifies

At a time when Nigeria is seeking renewed synergy between media and security institutions to strengthen public trust and national development, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mallam Shehu Mohammed, has been honoured with the 2025 Road Safety Champion Award by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).

The award, presented at the NAOSNP National Conference/Awards in Lagos, recognises his bold transformation agenda in road safety administration and his commitment to creating safer road environments across the country.

Receiving the award on his behalf, the Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, said the recognition reflects the FRSC’s collective efforts, noting that every journey “starts and ends on the road,” making road transport a defining pillar of Nigeria’s economy.

NAOSNP President, Mayor Oki Samson, highlighted the growing importance of responsible journalism in an era of misinformation and evolving security threats.

He called for stronger collaboration between media and security agencies to ensure accurate, timely and ethical reporting that supports national cohesion.

In a keynote delivered on behalf of former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Air Vice Marshal Bashir Rimi Mamman emphasised the interplay between governance, security and development, urging unity and responsible journalism in shaping Nigeria’s future.

Similarly, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, speaking on the conference theme “Securing and Safeguarding Nigeria’s Economic Resources,” stressed that security remains central to economic growth, infrastructure protection and investor confidence.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, while dedicating the award to FRSC personnel, reiterated the agency’s readiness to enforce reforms that reduce crashes, safeguard supply chains and improve national transportation safety.

He also urged the media to sustain public enlightenment and uphold integrity in their reportage.

The event also saw FRSC’s Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, named NAOSNP Security Agency Spokesperson of the Year.

Now regarded as Nigeria’s largest media-organised security conference, the NAOSNP Awards continues to bring together key actors across defence, policing, civil protection and public service.
