FG Reaffirms Commitment To Empowering Young Nigerians – Idris

Nigeria’s youth remain at the heart of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with the Federal Government pledging to expand opportunities in education, innovation, and job creation to secure a prosperous future for the nation.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known while speaking as Special Guest Speaker at the APC North West Youth Pally held in Dutse, Jigawa State, where young Nigerians gathered to celebrate two years of progress under the Tinubu administration.

Idris said President Tinubu has demonstrated “uncommon trust” in young Nigerians by giving them leadership roles and meaningful responsibilities in governance.

“From cabinet appointments to digital innovation and education reforms, young Nigerians are not just part of the story, they are the drivers of it,” he stated.

The Minister highlighted several youth-focused achievements, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has disbursed ₦116 billion to over 620,000 students, and the 3MTT Programme, which has attracted nearly two million applicants for digital and technical job opportunities nationwide.

He also cited the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative, which has certified one million Nigerians in 25 trades, and the Energizing Education Programme lighting up universities like Bayero University Kano and Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, providing uninterrupted power for learning and research.

On economic reforms, Idris announced that the Nigeria Tax Act, effective January 2026, will exempt small businesses earning ₦100 million or less from company income and capital gains taxes, a move aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs.

The Minister further noted that the iDICE Initiative, a $517 million partnership to grow Nigeria’s digital and creative economy, and the MSME Clinics are strengthening the nation’s innovation ecosystem.

He added that Nigeria’s recent Eurobond oversubscription by 400 percent and removal from the FATF Grey List show renewed investor confidence in the country’s economic direction.

Calling on youths to reject fake news and divisive rhetoric, Idris urged them to use their platforms for nation-building. “Tinubu’s leadership is about giving every Nigerian, no matter where they come from, a fair chance to succeed,” he said.

The event was attended by top government officials, including Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande, and NELFUND Managing Director Akintunde Sawyerr, among others.
