Gen. Dambazau To Lead National Dialogue On Security At JFCN Annual Lecture

Former Chief of Army Staff and ex-Minister of Interior, Lt. General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (Rtd), is set to deliver the keynote address at the 7th Annual Lecture of the Just Friends Club of Nigeria (JFCN), taking place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Bolingo Hotel, Abuja.

Themed “Nigeria’s Security Challenges and the Quest for National Cohesion: A New Paradigm for Internal Security Architecture and Governance,” the event will explore Nigeria’s pressing security concerns, from terrorism to communal conflicts and organised crime, with a focus on practical pathways to lasting peace and unity.

JFCN President, Mr Fred Ohwahwa, said the lecture comes at a critical time when Nigeria is in dire need of innovative solutions to strengthen its internal security and rebuild national trust.

He noted that General Dambazau’s vast experience—spanning his service as Chief of Army Staff between 2008 and 2010, and as Minister of Interior from 2015 to 2019, positions him to provide deep insights into the challenges and reforms required to restore stability.

“His wealth of knowledge and thought leadership in security matters come at a time when the nation is yearning for pragmatic ideas.

We believe his lecture will offer a bold and coherent vision for Nigeria’s security and unity,” Ohwahwa stated.

The event will be chaired by veteran broadcaster and communication scholar, Prof. Tonnie Osa Iredia, while a panel session featuring experts such as Air Vice Marshal Gbolahan Adekunle (Rtd) and Prof. Okey Ikechukwu will provide further analysis and recommendations.

Since its inception, the Just Friends Club of Nigeria has remained a non-partisan forum for civic engagement and policy dialogue, drawing professionals, technocrats, and thought leaders from diverse sectors.

Its annual lecture has become a major platform for national discourse on governance and development.
