CP Dantawaye Miller Assumes Office As 34th FCT Commissioner Of Police, Vows to Strengthen Community Safety
A new chapter in policing has begun in the nation’s capital as CP Dantawaye Miller, a seasoned and reform-driven officer, officially assumed duty as the 34th Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Friday, 17th October 2025.
He takes over from CP Ajao S. Adewale, who has been redeployed for another strategic assignment by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
CP Miller, who hails from Afogo in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, brings with him more than two decades of distinguished service and a reputation for professionalism, discipline, and innovation in law enforcement.
A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, with a Master’s in International Studies from the University of Ilorin, CP Miller has served in diverse operational and leadership roles across Nigeria, from Divisional Crime Officer in Bayelsa to Assistant Commissioner (CID) in Oyo, and most recently, Commissioner of Police in Kogi State.
His impressive career also includes strategic national assignments such as Escort Commander to the then Vice President, Chief Security Officer at the Ministry of Petroleum, and Commanding Officer, MOPOL 24 – Presidential Villa.
A well-rounded officer, CP Miller has attended top-tier local and international training programmes in counter-terrorism, leadership, and VIP protection, including courses in Israel and at the Police Staff College, Jos.
He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Rotary International.
Upon assuming office, CP Miller pledged to strengthen community-police relations, enhance intelligence-driven policing, and ensure the safety of all residents in the FCT.
“We will build on the solid security frameworks already in place and work closely with residents to sustain peace and safety in the Federal Capital Territory,” he assured.
The FCT Police Command called on citizens to continue supporting law enforcement efforts, reaffirming that security remains a shared responsibility between the police and the people.
