Ebonyi Bishop Arrested For Alleged Exploitation Of Sickle Cell Patient
The church is often seen as a sanctuary. A place where the weary seek comfort, healing, and truth.
But when that trust is betrayed, the impact cuts deep, shaking both faith and community.
This is the case in Ebonyi State, where the Police Command has arrested Bishop Ndibueze Okorie Onyagoziri, the General Overseer of Champion the Truth Cathedral, for allegedly sexually exploiting a 22-year-old female sickle cell patient under the false pretext of spiritually transforming her genotype from SS to AA.
According to police sources, the cleric allegedly deceived the victim into believing that “divine intervention” required a physical act with him, promising a miraculous healing from her genetic condition.
The Ebonyi State Police Command confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect is in custody while investigations continue to unravel the full extent of the alleged crime.
Public outrage has followed the revelation, with many calling for stricter regulation of religious institutions and greater protection for vulnerable individuals who often seek help in faith settings.
The Command assured that justice would be served and urged the public to report similar incidents without fear or hesitation.
