Information Minister Mourns Death Of Arise News Anchor Somtochukwu
Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has described the killing of Arise News anchor, Ms Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, as a “grievous loss” to the nation.
In a condolence letter to Arise News Chairman, Chief Nduka Obaigbena, the Minister expressed shock at the tragic death of the young journalist, whom he praised as a “vibrant and dedicated news anchor, consummate lawyer, and a model of professionalism.”
Idris said he was deeply saddened by the “heinous incident that cut down a promising journalist in her prime,” stressing that her passing is not only a loss to her family and colleagues but also to the entire Nigerian media fraternity.
He assured that the government would ensure a swift investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death, while extending heartfelt sympathy to her parents, siblings, colleagues, and friends.
