Femi Otedola Slams N1bn Suit Against Ex-VP’s Aide Over Subsidy Allegation
Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has taken legal action against Umar Sani, former spokesperson to ex-Vice President Namadi Sambo, over claims that he benefitted from Nigeria’s petroleum subsidy regime through his company, Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd.
Otedola, Chairman of Geregu Power Plc, described the allegation as false and damaging to his reputation, and has instructed his lawyers to file a ₦1 billion lawsuit for defamation.
The businessman insisted that neither he nor Zenon Petroleum ever took part in the subsidy scheme, adding that he has consistently maintained transparency in his business dealings.
The lawsuit, now before the court, seeks redress for what Otedola terms a calculated attempt to malign his name and mislead the public.
