MFA, Bangladesh High Commission, NBBTF Meet On Youth Boot Camp Programme

Following an earlier meeting between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the High Commissioner-Designate of Bangladesh to Nigeria on Friday, 19th September 2025, a follow-up session was held at the instance of the MFA.

The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, 23rd September 2025 at the Bangladesh High Commission in Abuja, was hosted by His Excellency Miah Md. Mainul Kabir, Bangladesh High Commissioner-Designate.

It brought together Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi, Director of Reform and Foreign Service Innovation, MFA; the Federal Ministry of Youth Development; and the Nigerian Bangladesh Business and Technology Forum (NBBTF) for a strategic joint programme implementation dialogue.

At the centre of discussions was a collaborative initiative between Nigeria and Bangladesh, a Youth Boot Camp designed to promote youth engagement, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange between the two countries.

The programme carries both policy and economic dimensions, focusing on capacity building, skills exchange, creativity, ICT, and innovation.

It is modelled to highlight the role of young people in shaping bilateral relations among countries of the Global South.

The Bangladesh edition will align with the celebration of Bangladesh Youth Year while complementing Nigeria’s growing youth diplomacy drive for sustainable development.

The Boot Camp will convene policymakers, young leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators from diverse sectors in both countries to strengthen economic ties and foster sustainable development.

With strong emphasis on ICT, frontier technologies in shipbuilding and ship-breaking, agritech, fintech, and SMEs, the initiative is expected to drive youth-led development and serve as a model for structured youth diplomacy.

An advance team comprising NBBTF representatives and ministry officials will travel between 20th and 25th October 2025 to lay the groundwork.

The main delegation, including ministerial representatives and selected youth executives, will participate in the Boot Camp from 26th to 30th October 2025.

The Boot Camp is self-sponsored, with discounted participation fees for youths. Executives, legislators, and institutions are encouraged to sponsor both youths and policymakers for the programme.
