Rivers State Was In Turmoil Before Tinubu’s Intervention – Administrator

The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has revealed that the state was gripped by deep divisions, political instability and broken trust before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stepped in to restore order.

Speaking on Monday, Ibas, who was appointed by the President to preside over the state for six months, described Rivers as being on the brink of chaos when he assumed office.

“The state was torn by divisions, instability, and broken trust,” he said, stressing that the intervention from the Presidency was crucial in calming tensions and paving the way for governance.

Rivers State has been rocked by months of political wrangling and disputes that threatened to paralyse governance.

The administrator’s remarks underscore the magnitude of the crisis and the high stakes involved in stabilising one of Nigeria’s most politically significant states.

Observers say Ibas’s temporary stewardship will be key to rebuilding confidence among warring factions and charting a path towards lasting peace.
