FRSC Smokes Out Military Impersonator, Secures 245 Convictions In FCT Mobile Court Crackdown

Impersonating the military to evade traffic rules is no longer enough to escape justice in Abuja.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has uncovered a fake soldier among hundreds of traffic offenders arrested during its intensified clampdown on indiscipline along the Abuja–Nyanya corridor.

Under Operation Restore Sanity IV, the FCT Command arraigned 254 offenders between 8th and 12th September, 2025, booking them for 563 traffic violations ranging from seatbelt infractions to reckless driving. A total of 245 convictions were secured, while nine were discharged.

Among the culprits was Hussaini Kabir, who was not only guilty of dangerous driving but also of impersonating the military. He was sentenced to five days of community service at Mambilla Barracks.

Other habitual offenders, including Shaab Murtala, Abel Sunday, Sunday Salasi, Benjamin Augustine, Ekem Charles, and Samsudeen Abdullahi, faced punishments ranging from three hours to five days of community service for offences such as overloading, licence violations, and use of phones while driving.

Presided over by Magistrates Maryam Muazu Alhaji and Huzaifa Maccido, the mobile court sittings reinforced the Corps’ zero-tolerance approach.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, who ordered the exercise, said similar operations would soon be replicated nationwide to “restore sanity on Nigerian roads.”

The FRSC has vowed to sustain the pressure, warning motorists against dangerous habits that continue to claim lives daily.
