Etsu Nupe At 73: Minister Hails Monarch As Pillar Of Peace and Unity
Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has described the Etsu Nupe, His Royal Highness Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, as a symbol of peace, unity, and national development.
In a congratulatory message to mark the monarch’s 73rd birthday and 22nd year on the throne, Idris who also holds the traditional title of Kakakin Nupe, praised the Etsu Nupe’s role in guiding Nupeland to “unprecedented growth and development” over the past two decades.
Highlighting his service as a retired Brigadier General and his leadership as Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, as well as the Coordinating Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, the Minister said the monarch had contributed immensely to Nigeria’s unity.
“I want to wish one of Nigeria’s most amiable, hospitable, and courageous leaders a happy birthday, and Allah’s continuous guidance in the task of leading Nupeland and its people,” Idris said.
