IGP Hails DEPOWA For Full Scholarship Scheme For Children Of Fallen Heroes
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) for launching a landmark initiative to provide full scholarships for children of fallen heroes.
Egbetokun gave the commendation when DEPOWA, led by its President, Mrs Oghogho Musa, paid him a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Mrs Musa explained that the scheme would take off with the commissioning of the DEPOWA Future Leaders Academy in September 2026.
She said the project would not only support children of officers who lost their lives in service but also strengthen national unity by admitting pupils from neighbouring communities.
The DEPOWA President also praised the sacrifices of police officers in tackling violent crimes and contributing to peacekeeping missions.
In response, the IGP reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, maintaining public order, and protecting democracy.
He stressed that the Force draws encouragement from the support of partners such as DEPOWA in fulfilling its constitutional duties.
