Delta Speaker Honoured With SWAN Membership, Award Of Excellence
The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has pledged unwavering support to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), describing himself as a passionate lover of sports.
Guwor gave the assurance when the SWAN President, Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, led members of the national executive to his office in Asaba, where he was formally presented with an associate membership card and an Award of Excellence
Visibly delighted, the Speaker said he was honoured by the gesture.
I never knew my light-hearted remark about being a SWAN member last year would become reality. a Today, I feel proud, grateful and deeply honoured,” he said.
The Speaker, who recalled his participation in SWAN’s national convention in Asaba last year, noted that the legislature actively promotes sporting activities, even engaging in annual football matches with the executive arm.
SWAN President praised the Speaker’s contributions to sports development, stressing that Delta remains Nigeria’s leading sporting state, thanks to the support of leaders like Guwor.

The visit, SWAN said, was a mark of appreciation for the Speaker’s commitment to sports and journalism.
