NUJ FCT Applauds Stella Din Jacob’s Historic Appointment As NTA’s First Female Executive Director Of News

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council has celebrated the appointment of Barrister Stella Din Jacob as the new Executive Director of News at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), marking a historic milestone as she becomes the first woman to occupy the role.

In a statement signed by its Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, the Council described Jacob as a trailblazing broadcaster with an outstanding career, lauding her decades of service, mentorship, and commitment to excellence in journalism.

The Council noted that NUJ FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, once worked under Jacob’s guidance at Silverbird Group, underscoring her legacy of nurturing young professionals in the media.

Commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment, the NUJ said it reflects a commitment to inclusive leadership and recognition of Jacob’s rich experience across top media organisations including Silverbird Group, Channels Television, and TVC News.

Her legal training and professional versatility, the Council added, further distinguish her as a leader poised to drive growth, innovation, and credibility at NTA.

“We are proud of her well-deserved elevation and confident that she will continue to inspire women and journalists across Nigeria while strengthening national broadcasting,” the statement read.

The NUJ FCT pledged its full support for Jacob in her new role, wishing her resounding success as she takes on the historic responsibility
