IPC Mourns Veteran Journalist Evelyn Osagie
The International Press Centre (IPC), Lagos, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Evelyn Osagie, Senior Correspondent with The Nation Newspaper.
In a statement on Monday, IPC described Osagie’s passing as a huge loss to the journalism community, noting that her work went beyond mere reportage to advocacy, particularly for women’s voices in the media.
Executive Director of IPC, Mr. Lanre Arogundade, hailed her for amplifying women’s issues through her inclusive reporting. “Evelyn was a renowned journalist whose journalism inspired action.
We will especially remember her contributions at the recent IPC/NAWOJ interface in Port Harcourt, where she pledged personal and institutional commitment to advancing women’s voices in political reporting ahead of the 2027 elections,” he said.
Osagie, known for her dedication to gender-inclusive journalism, was celebrated for her commitment to making Nigerian newsrooms more enabling for women’s issues.
The IPC extended heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues and friends, affirming that her legacy will continue to inspire.
