NRFF Unveils Landmark Rugby Coaching and Medical Courses In Lagos
The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) is set to host a groundbreaking World Rugby Coaching Level 1 course in Lagos from 12–13 August 2025, marking a major step in building home-grown coaching expertise.
For the first time, the programme will be delivered entirely by Nigeria’s newly certified in-house World Rugby Educators a move that eliminates the need for foreign trainers and highlights the country’s growing technical capacity.
The event’s highlight will be a Rugby Sevens Coaching Masterclass on 13 August, led by National Team Coach Steve Lewis, who will share advanced tactics and game-management strategies aimed at shaping a distinctly Nigerian style of play.
“This programme is a milestone in building our coaching capacity,” said NRFF President, Dr Ademola Aare. “By equipping more coaches with the right skills and certification, we ensure players at every level receive top-quality training.”
The course is open to aspiring coaches without World Rugby Level 1 or Medical Level 1 (First Aid in Rugby) certifications, with similar programmes planned nationwide in the coming months.
