ECOWAS Hosts Regional Workshop On Civil-Military Coordination For Humanitarian Action
ECOWAS has kicked off a four-day regional workshop in Abuja to fine-tune its draft Civil-Military Coordination Strategy for Humanitarian Action.
Running from 5 to 8 August 2025, the workshop brings together experts from member states, civil society, humanitarian agencies, media, and Centres of Excellence across West Africa.
The goal is to refine the strategy to align with global best practices. Once adopted, it will serve as a regional policy framework to guide how military and civilian actors collaborate during humanitarian crises.
The initiative is led by ECOWAS’ Directorate of Humanitarian and Social Affairs and marks a key step in improving regional disaster response and protection for affected communities.
