Anambra Police Arrest Suspect In Shocking Murder Of Pregnant Nurse In Ogbunike

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old woman, Somtochukwu Nwafor, in connection with the brutal murder and mutilation of a pregnant nurse in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area.

The victim, lured to the home of the prime suspect under the pretext of medical help, was killed and her body dumped in a soakaway.

According to police, the suspect, now in custody, confessed to being the girlfriend of the main suspect Chiemerie Obika Elobisi, who is currently on the run.

She admitted helping to clean up after the crime and revealed that the victim’s body parts were sold to local native doctors.

Following her confession, police operatives raided a shrine belonging to a native doctor, Nwafor Chibunna Ofornwatadile, in Itima Amawa Village, Ogbunike.

There, they recovered suspected human parts hidden in nylon bags.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, condemned the act as “inhumane and an affront to the sanctity of life,” and has launched a full manhunt for the main suspect and all accomplices.

He called on the public to come forward with any useful information, assuring that all informants will be protected.
