Highstone Global University Hosts Convocation, Research Conference In Lagos To Champion Africa’s Education and Innovation Drive

Highstone Global University, Texas, in collaboration with NIPEM Professional Education Management International, held its convocation and international research conference on Saturday at the Lagos State University of Education, Ijanikin.

The event gathered academics, entrepreneurs, and professionals to exchange ideas on innovative education and sustainable development across Africa.

A highlight of the day was the convocation of doctoral students marking a milestone in their academic journey.

President of NIPEM International, Prof. Maurice Azubuike Odiete, spoke passionately about the institution’s mission to deliver globally recognised, flexible education tailored to meet the needs of Africans.

He stressed that NIPEM is raising professionals and leaders who can compete globally and drive real change locally.

“Our goal is to create access to quality education and employment for Nigerians and Africans,” he said. “Through strong partnerships and affordable learning models, we’re unlocking the potential of our youth.”

Representing Highstone Global University, Texas, the African Vice Chancellor, Amb. Prof. Valentine Iheukwumere, noted that the university’s values centre on character, ethics, and practical experience.

He revealed that plans are underway to establish a dedicated African campus in Nigeria.

“Education should not just be about knowledge, but also about social responsibility and preparing students for the global stage,” he stated.

In a keynote lecture titled “The Digital Renaissance: Reimagining Education and Economy in Africa,” Vice Chancellor Prof. Ugah Theophilus Aku challenged participants to embrace the digital age as a tool for Africa’s transformation.

“Africa has the chance to leapfrog industrial limitations and shape its own future,” he said, encouraging investment in digital platforms to boost innovation, education, healthcare, and economic growth.

The event underlined a shared commitment to shaping Africa’s future through education, technology, and purposeful leadership—ensuring no one is left behind.
