Nigerian Air Force Graduates New UAV Operators, Strengthens Aerial Intelligence Capabilities
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken a bold step toward enhancing its battlefield intelligence and precision strike capacity with the graduation of a new batch of combat-ready Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operators.
The graduation ceremony, held on Wednesday, 24 July 2025, at the 233 Wing Hangar in Kaduna, marked the completion of Operational Conversion Training Course 3/2024.
It represents a key stride in the Air Force’s mission to dominate Nigeria’s battlespace through advanced surveillance and real-time intelligence gathering.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, Air Vice Marshal Patrick Obeya, hailed the occasion as more than ceremonial. “This is a reaffirmation of our resolve to secure the nation through precision ISR and coordinated joint operations,” he said.
Air Marshal Abubakar praised the graduating officers for their resilience and professionalism, urging them to remain committed to their mission.
He stressed that success in modern warfare goes beyond flying skills—it requires data fusion, strategic thinking, and seamless teamwork with engineers, analysts, and combat units.
“These young men and women are now key players in our efforts to deliver timely intelligence and secure Nigeria from the skies,” he added.
With global security dynamics rapidly shifting, the NAF’s investment in UAV capability reflects a clear vision for technology-driven defence.
The ceremony, attended by senior officers, families, and well-wishers, celebrated what the CAS described as “a crucial investment in national security.”
