Flying Eagles Thrash Junior Cheetahs 4-1 To Book WAFU B U20 Semi-final Spot
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles cruised into the semi-finals of the WAFU B U20 Championship with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Benin Republic’s Junior Cheetahs on Sunday.
It was the Cheetahs who struck first, with Junior Olugbade curling in a superb free-kick in the 24th minute to stun the Eagles.
But Nigeria responded before the break through Mohammed Abdullahi, who coolly levelled the scores.
The second half saw the Flying Eagles take full control of the match.
Ezekiel Kpangu tucked home a fine finish after a slick team move to put Nigeria ahead. Moments later, Imrana Mohammed danced past defenders to slot in the third.
As the final whistle approached, a lofted ball from deep found Mohammed again, who turned provider for Abdulahi Majid.
Majid unleashed a thunderbolt from outside the box to seal a dominant win.
Defender Odinaka Okoro was named Man of the Match for his commanding performance at the back.
The victory secures Nigeria’s place in the semi-finals and sends a strong message to their rivals as the Flying Eagles chase the WAFU B crown.
