AFIT Tops JAMB Merit Awards, Reaffirms Commitment To Academic Excellence
The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, has soared to new heights, emerging as the best-performing university in Nigeria for adherence to JAMB admission guidelines in the 2024/2025 academic session.
The prestigious recognition came at the 5th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NAPTAP-M), hosted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, on 8 July 2025.
AFIT clinched the top spot among all Nigerian universities for its strict compliance with merit-based admissions and JAMB’s regulatory processes—an impressive leap from its second-place finish in the previous year.
Over a combined two-year ranking, AFIT now stands 4th out of 172 universities nationwide, following Ahmadu Bello University, University of Ilorin, and Nile University.
This feat is yet another testament to AFIT’s growing reputation as a centre of excellence in higher education, driven by transparency, discipline, and innovation.
Reacting to the award, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, applauded the AFIT leadership and staff, describing the honour as “a validation of the Nigerian Air Force’s strategic investment in education as a critical enabler of air power and national development.”
“The Institute’s performance reflects our core values of merit, professionalism, and integrity,” the CAS said. “AFIT continues to deliver quality graduates who are not only essential to the Nigerian Air Force but vital to the nation’s broader development goals.”
AFIT’s success, he added, is a direct result of its alignment with the CAS Command Philosophy, which places a premium on capacity building, strategic partnerships, and world-class training standards.
Widely regarded as Nigeria’s foremost aerospace and defence university, AFIT is fast becoming a model for academic credibility, research innovation, and national relevance. With this fresh endorsement from JAMB, the Institute is firmly positioned to help shape the country’s next generation of engineers, scientists,
