Senate Reacts To Court Ruling On Senator Natasha’s Suspension

The Nigerian Senate has acknowledged the recent court ruling in favour of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan but says it will take no immediate action until it receives the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, said the Senate is aware of the Federal High Court’s decision delivered on 4th July but stressed that due process must be followed.

“Our legal team, who attended the proceedings, confirmed that the full judgment was not read in open court,” Adaramodu stated. “We have since applied for the Certified True Copy to conduct a thorough legal review and determine the appropriate response.”

He added that until the CTC is received, it remains unclear whether the court gave any explicit order nullifying Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension.

The Senate assured Nigerians that it will act strictly in accordance with constitutional provisions and the rule of law once all legal documents have been reviewed.
