Nigeria, EU Set For High-Level Talks In Abuja To Deepen Strategic Ties

Senior officials from Nigeria and the European Union (EU) are set to convene in Abuja on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd July 2025 for a crucial meeting aimed at advancing bilateral cooperation and setting the stage for an upcoming ministerial dialogue.

The high-level gathering will be co-chaired by Nigeria’s Ambassador Janet Olisa, Director of the Regions Department, and Mr. Mathieu Briens, Deputy Managing Director for Africa at the European External Action Service.

A statement by the Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, Kimiebi Ebienfa, says the meeting will spotlight a range of key issues, including peace and security, governance, the humanitarian situation, trade and investment, health and education, migration, digital innovation, and the transition to a green economy.

Nigeria and the EU enjoy a strong partnership rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and a joint commitment to multilateralism and global cooperation.

This meeting is expected to strengthen that alliance and forge a clearer path towards sustainable development and regional stability.
