FRSC Boss Applauds FMC Abuja For Swift Action, Urges Hospitals To Stop Rejecting Crash Victims

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has commended the management of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, Abuja, for swiftly addressing allegations against staff members accused of neglecting a crash victim rescued by FRSC operatives.

Speaking during a press briefing, Mohammed praised the hospital’s leadership for taking decisive steps, while urging healthcare providers nationwide to adopt a more proactive approach in handling emergencies.

“Timely and adequate medical care is crucial in saving lives after road crashes,” he said. “The continued rejection of crash victims by hospitals is not only disheartening but also unlawful.”

He referenced the National Road Traffic Regulations (2024), which clearly prohibits such rejection and prescribes strict penalties for any form of negligence or misconduct.

The Corps Marshal also extended heartfelt thanks to the Good Samaritan who rescued the crash victim, calling the act a display of true patriotism.

“We all have a role to play in building a culture of safety, discipline, and humanity,” he stated. “Together, we can drastically reduce road crash fatalities and improve emergency response.”

Mohammed reiterated FRSC’s commitment to partnering with healthcare institutions and stakeholders to ensure that no life is lost due to avoidable delays or neglect.
