Private Sector Takes the Lead As Nigeria Prepares For WAES 2025

Nigeria’s road to the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES 2025) got a major boost today as the private sector stepped into the spotlight.

At a high-level roundtable hosted by Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, in Lagos, top CEOs, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders gathered at the Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island, to help shape the agenda for the upcoming Summit, scheduled for 20–21 June in Abuja.

Amb. Tuggar made it clear: WAES 2025 isn’t just about government policy—it’s about finding real, practical solutions. He urged business leaders to speak candidly about the trade barriers, red tape, and infrastructure gaps slowing regional growth.

With the private sector now taking centre stage, the event signals a shift in regional cooperation—one where business drives innovation, integration, and long-term economic progress.
