Eid El Adha: A Moment For Reflection, Compassion, National Unity – NUJ President, Yahya
As Muslims across Nigeria mark Eid El Adha, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has extended warm wishes to citizens, calling the celebration a timely moment for reflection and renewed national consciousness.
In a heartfelt message, NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi, urged Nigerians to use the festival to not only express gratitude but also reflect deeply on the pressing challenges confronting the nation particularly insecurity and food scarcity.
While commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its developmental strides over the past two years, the NUJ expressed concern over the resurgence of insurgency, banditry, and worsening power supply.
These issues, the union noted, have stifled agricultural productivity and heightened food insecurity among vulnerable communities.
“The link between insecurity and poor food access is undeniable,” Abdullahi said. “Food is not just a necessity, it is a foundation for peace and stability.
We must do more to support our farmers, secure our communities, and prioritise the needs of the marginalised.”
The union called on the Federal Government to reassess its current strategies and adopt sustainable, people-centred approaches to resolving these crises.
As families come together to celebrate, the NUJ urged Nigerians to extend compassion to those in distress and keep hope alive for a more secure, united, and prosperous nation.
Happy Eid El Adha to all!
