NAF Unveils Bold Welfare Drive As CAS Commissions 160-Ensuite Flats In Lagos

In a sweeping move to uplift personnel welfare, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a raft of transformative initiatives, including a 100% increase in Ration Cash Allowance (RCA), enhanced insurance benefits, and large-scale distribution of new uniforms.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, unveiled the welfare package during the commissioning of 160 newly remodelled ensuite flats for airmen at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Lagos, on 31 May 2025.

Reaffirming his commitment to a motivated and professional force, the CAS stated that welfare remains a cornerstone of his leadership. “Our personnel’s well-being directly influences our operational readiness,” he noted.

He revealed that 23 airmen have already benefited from the new Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy, with payouts covering injuries, disabilities, and medical expenses.

Air Marshal Abubakar also announced that uniform distribution will reach 100% coverage within two weeks, while engagements are ongoing with Defence Headquarters to review the Armed Forces Manual of Financial Administration.

So far, the NAF has embarked on over 470 welfare-related infrastructural projects nationwide, with 295 completed and 175 ongoing a ₦61 billion investment in better living and working conditions.

The CAS also disclosed an upward review of the electricity subsidy at Sam Ethnan Base and procurement of new equipment for 661 NAF Hospital, Ikeja.

“These 160 flats are more than buildings; they symbolise our resolve to provide decent accommodation and dignified service life for our personnel,” he stated.

Air Vice Marshal Adeniran Ademuwagun, AOC Logistics Command, commended the CAS’s empathetic leadership, adding that the new interventions will bolster morale and drive greater efficiency within the ranks.
