NTAC DG Hails Nigerian Workers, Urges Support for Tinubu’s Reforms

The Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has lauded Nigerian workers for their unwavering dedication, describing them as the driving force behind national development.

In a statement issued in Abuja to mark this year’s Workers’ Day, Buba saluted the resilience of workers across the country and called on state governments and private organisations to address the glaring salary disparities between their employees and those in federal institutions.

“It is unacceptable that many workers earn wages that cannot even cover transport back home,” he said, urging a review of remuneration structures, particularly in private schools, factories, and corporate firms where underpayment and casualisation persist.

While highlighting the Tinubu administration’s recent efforts to improve workers’ welfare—including a 35% increase in federal salaries and NYSC allowance increments—Buba stressed the need for these reforms to be mirrored at other levels of employment.

He appealed to Nigerians to rally behind ongoing government reforms aimed at creating a better life for all, noting that improved worker welfare remains crucial to national productivity.

“Every worker deserves dignity, safety, and fair pay. We must champion these changes ourselves,” he concluded.
