World Bank, ECOWAS Deepen Partnership For West Africa’s Prosperity
The Vice President of the World Bank for Western and Central Africa, Mr. Ousmane Diagana, recently paid a courtesy visit to the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Touray, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.
Accompanied by top officials, including Nigeria Country Director Dr. Ndiamé Diop and Regional Director Mr. Abebe Adugna, Mr. Diagana described the visit as a strategic moment to assess joint progress and strengthen collaboration between the two institutions.
“ECOWAS is a vital symbol of regional integration,” Diagana noted. “Our partnership is crucial for driving shared prosperity, reducing poverty, and creating jobs across West Africa.”
Responding, Dr. Touray welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed ECOWAS’s commitment to a deeper partnership with the World Bank. “Together, we can accelerate impact and improve the lives of our people,” he said.
The meeting highlighted the shared resolve of both institutions to build a stronger, more inclusive West Africa through sustained collaboration.
