In a show of solidarity and inclusiveness, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on Tuesday joined Christian personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to break their fast, reinforcing his people-centric leadership style and commitment to unity within the military.

The event, held as a joint gathering of both Christian and Muslim personnel, was aimed at strengthening bonds, fostering tolerance, and promoting the spirit of togetherness in the military. It mirrors a similar initiative during the Muslim fasting period when combined Iftar sessions were held every Thursday.

Addressing the gathering, General Musa emphasised the spiritual, health, and disciplinary benefits of fasting, describing it as vital to building endurance and regimentation in the armed forces.

He applauded the troops for their unwavering dedication and sacrifice, despite mounting challenges across various theatres of operation.

While acknowledging the rise in security threats, the CDS urged personnel not to relent, but to stay focused, united, and committed to safeguarding the nation.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support through the provision of resources and equipment necessary to sustain the fight against enemies of the state.

The evening ended with shared moments of joy, camaraderie, and a renewed sense of purpose among members of the AFN.
