China has once again pledged its commitment to deepening relations with Nigeria, as the Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Hu Chunhua, led a high-level delegation to Abuja for talks with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.

The visit builds on the momentum from last September’s Beijing Summit where Presidents Xi Jinping and Bola Ahmed Tinubu elevated the bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Speaking during the meeting, Hu Chunhua, conveyed warm greetings from Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and expressed China’s readiness to implement the outcomes of the summit.

He emphasised mutual support in areas such as economic development and regional stability.

“We are ready to work with Nigeria to fully implement the important consensus reached by our presidents and move ahead with our strategic partnership,” Hu said.

Responding, Ambassador Tuggar who welcomed the delegation, noted that the frequency of bilateral visits reflects the strengthening bond between both nations.

He praised China’s developmental strides and assured continued support for the One China Principle.

“We recognise China’s commitment to infrastructure development and its growing investment in Nigeria,” Tuggar said, adding that Nigeria remains committed to building stronger ties in line with shared values and mutual respect.

The Chinese delegation included top officials from the CPPCC and major Chinese corporations, further signaling China’s intent to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation with Africa’s most populous nation.
