The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has urged Nigerians to embrace hope, unity, and moral leadership amid economic hardship and insecurity.

At the end of their first plenary for 2025 in Abuja, the bishops acknowledged progress in infrastructure and education but warned that hunger, joblessness, and violence continue to plague the country.

They called on government at all levels to govern with integrity and citizens to remain hopeful and engaged in shaping a better Nigeria.

The bishops also appealed for mercy for Sunday Jackson, who was recently sentenced to death, reaffirming the Church’s stand against capital punishment.

As Nigerians observe Lent and Ramadan, the bishops called for a spiritual and moral awakening, reminding everyone that true change starts from within.
