As the race for Anambra’s top political seat gains momentum, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a significant step by clearing all seven aspirants seeking to contest its primary election.
This move is a testimony to the party’s readiness to challenge the status quo in a state historically dominated by other political forces; the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA to be precise.
The APC Anambra State 2025 Gubernatorial Election Screening Committee, led by former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shehu Shema, has officially approved the following aspirants for the primary election slated for April 5, 2025:
Sir Paul Chukwuma
High Chief Prof. Obiora Francis Okonkwo
Hon. Prince Nicholas Chukwujekwu Ukachukwu
Hon. Chukwuma Michael Umeoji
Valentine Chineto Ozigbo
Johnbosco Obinna Onunkwo
Edozie Madu
In a ceremony held at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, each aspirant received a Certificate of Clearance, affirming their eligibility to compete.
Valentine Chineto Ozigbo, was however granted a waiver by the party, enabling his participation in the contest.
As preparations intensify, the APC has mandated all members in Anambra state both old and new to revalidate their membership in line with party directives.
With this development, the stage is set for a fierce internal contest as the aspirants vie for the party’s ticket ahead of the 2025 governorship election.
