As the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election draws closer, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reminded political parties of their responsibility to stick to the approved timetable for primaries.
In a statement released after its weekly meeting, INEC, through National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Sam Olumekun, stated that political parties must conduct their primaries between March 20 and April 10, 2025, as outlined in the electoral timetable.
While 12 out of 19 registered parties have submitted their primary schedules, seven are yet to comply.
INEC has as such, urged them to act swiftly, warning that last-minute changes could disrupt monitoring efforts, affect logistical planning, and increase election costs.
