For years, the Catholic Church has harnessed the power of media to spread the Gospel, adapting to changing times to reach the faithful.
In a significant move to expand its beoadcasting reach, the Catholic Television of Nigeria (CTV Nigeria) is set to migrate to the GOTV platform on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
This transition marks a major milestone in Catholic media evangelisation, aligning with the Church’s vision of securing a strong presence on major television platforms.
According to the Director of Communications for the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja and Director of CTV Nigeria, Very Rev. Fr. Patrick Alumuku, the move underscores a commitment to making Catholic programming more accessible to viewers across Nigeria.
CTV’s journey, which began in 2009 under the leadership of John Cardinal Onaiyekan, has seen remarkable growth despite initial setbacks.
With its migration to GOTV, CTV is poised to reach a wider audience, furthering its mission of evangelisation. Plans are also underway to establish local production hubs in dioceses nationwide, ensuring richer, community-driven content.
Fr. Alumuku called on Catholics, businesses, and media stakeholders to support CTV’s sustainability through sponsorships and advertisements, stressing that collective participation is crucial for growth.
As CTV steps into this new era, it reaffirms the Church’s commitment to harnessing media for faith and enlightenment.
