As road crashes continue to claim lives globally, stakeholders are intensifying efforts to make highways safer.

One of such critical engagements is the 4th Inter-Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, themed “Commit to Life,” taking place in Marrakech, Morocco.

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, is among global road safety leaders attending the event.

On the opening day, he participated in a World Bank organised meeting with heads of road safety agencies worldwide.

He also joined the African Ministers of Transport in their deliberations on improving road safety across the continent.

A major highlight of the day was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the International Road Assessment Program (iRAP) and the West African Road Safety Organization (WARSO).

This agreement aims to enhance the safety ratings of roads across West Africa, a significant step towards reducing road fatalities.

Also in attendance is President of the Court of Appeal and a passionate road safety advocate, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem,

Through her NGO, Kwapda’as Road Safety Demand (KRSD), she continues to champion safer roads in Nigeria and beyond.

With several thousands of delegates from across the globe converging on Marrakech, the conference is expected to drive renewed commitment to global road safety, reinforcing the need to protect lives on the roads.
