The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully neutralised several bandits in an airstrike at Yauni Hill, Zakka Ward, Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation, conducted on February 15, 2025, was part of Operation FASAN YANMA and thwarted an attack on the Police Mobile Force (PMF) and Katsina State Community Watch Corps.
Intelligence reports had indicated that armed terrorists had launched an assault on a PMF location, killing two police personnel and four vigilantes.
The NAF swiftly deployed air assets for an interdiction mission, engaging the bandits at their hideout on Yauni Hill.
However, allegations of civilian casualties following the airstrike have surfaced, prompting immediate concerns.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has ordered a thorough investigation to verify the claims and ensure accountability.
The NAF reassured the public of its commitment to professionalism and adherence to strict rules of engagement, emphasising that all operations are conducted to protect lives and maintain national security.
As the investigation unfolds, the military has urged citizens to remain calm, promising transparency in addressing the concerns raised.
