The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to justice and accountability following the unfortunate shooting of 27-year-old Tomiwa Oni Odofa in Ogun State.

Tomiwa was struck by a stray bullet on July 24, 2024, at a police checkpoint in Itele, Ota, after officers discharged their firearms when a Lexus vehicle failed to stop for inspection.

The Ogun State Police Command immediately facilitated her medical treatment and ensured continuous monitoring until her discharge.

To further demonstrate commitment to her welfare, the IGP directed the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team to visit Tomiwa’s family in Ota.

The delegation assessed her recovery progress and reassured the family of the police force’s support.

Also, psychological evaluation and therapy have been arranged to aid her full recovery.

The police have pledged to remain transparent and accountable while extending their best wishes for Tomiwa’s swift healing.
